Privacy Policy — Hazard Notifier

ITDT LLC built the Hazard Notifier app to tell you about hazards reported near you. Doing that requires knowing roughly where you are and being able to reach your device with a notification, so unlike some of our other apps, Hazard Notifier does collect a small amount of information. This policy explains exactly what is collected, why each item is needed, how long it is kept, and what control you have over it.

We keep what we store to the minimum the app needs in order to work. What we do store is not given to third parties except for safety, regulatory, or legal reasons described below.

Hazard Notifier is a source of information, not an emergency service, and does not replace official warnings from your local authorities. Hazards shown in the app may be incomplete, delayed, approximate, or inaccurate.

Who We Are

ITDT LLC is the developer of Hazard Notifier and is the data controller responsible for the information described in this policy. For any privacy-related question or request, contact us through the contact page on our website.

Information We Collect

Hazard Notifier collects only these three things:

• An approximate location — a latitude and longitude, used to tell you about hazards near you and to place a hazard you choose to report.
• A notification token — the token Apple issues for your device, stored together with the notification settings you choose, so alerts can be delivered to you.
• Hazard reports you choose to submit — the type, location, time, and any description you enter.

Nothing else is collected. In particular, we do not collect your name, email address, telephone number, account name, or password. No account is required to use the app.

What We Do Not Collect

ITDT LLC does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:

• Names, email addresses, telephone numbers, account names, or passwords
• Advertising identifiers or any cross-app or cross-site tracking identifier
• Usage analytics or behavioral data
• Contacts, photos, calendars, health data, or files from your device
• Payment information

The Hazard Notifier app contains no advertising. It does not use analytics or advertising frameworks of any kind, and it does not track you across other applications or websites. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Location Data — What Is Kept and What Is Not

Your location is collected as a latitude and longitude so the app can tell you about hazards near you and place a hazard you report.

No location history is kept. The most recently collected location replaces the previous one. We store where you are, not where you have been.

You have two ways to limit this:

• Enter a location by hand. If you set your location manually in the My Location tab, no device location is collected at all.
• Turn off background updates. If device location is enabled and the app is running in the background, significant changes in your location can be collected so you can be alerted when you move into the area of a hazard. You can switch this off with Update Location in Background in the My Location tab.

You can also revoke location access entirely at any time in the iOS Settings app. The app will continue to work using a location you enter by hand.

Push Notifications and Your Device Token

To deliver hazard alerts, we store the notification token that Apple issues for your device, along with the notification settings you choose. That token identifies your device to Apple's notification service and nothing else — it is not a name, a telephone number, or an account, and it cannot be used to identify you personally.

When Apple reports that the app has been removed from a device, the token stored for it is discarded. You can stop notifications at any time by turning them off for Hazard Notifier in the iOS Settings app.

Hazard Reports You Submit

When you report a hazard, its type, location, time, and any description you enter are shared with other users near that location — that is the purpose of reporting it. Your report appears to them as a hazard on the map. It does not carry your name or anything else that identifies you.

Reports are filtered by ITDT LLC before broadcast, so not every submitted report is sent to the community. Please do not include personal information about yourself or anyone else in a report description.

How We Use This Information

The information above is used only to operate the service: to determine which hazards are near you, to deliver notifications you have asked for, to show community-reported hazards on the map, and to keep the service working correctly and free from abuse. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or any form of automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your information and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes. Information is disclosed only in these limited cases:

• Apple's notification service, which necessarily receives the device token in order to deliver a notification to your device.
• Other users near a hazard you report, which is the purpose of reporting it, and which is anonymous as described above.
• Safety, regulatory, or legal reasons — we may disclose information to government or law enforcement officials or to third parties where we believe it is necessary to protect the safety of the public or any person, to prevent or stop illegal or legally actionable activity, to respond to legal process, to protect the rights or property of ITDT LLC or a third party, or to comply with the law.

International Users and Data Transfers

Hazard Notifier is available worldwide, and ITDT LLC operates from the United States. If you or your device are outside the United States, the information described in this policy is transferred to, processed in, and stored in the United States, which may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country.

Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for that transfer, and by using the app you consent to the transfer and processing of this information in the United States. If you do not want your information transferred to the United States, please do not use the app.

Legal Bases for Processing (EEA, UK, and Switzerland)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process the information described above on the following legal bases under the GDPR and UK GDPR:

• Consent — for collecting your device location and for sending push notifications. iOS asks for both separately, and you may withdraw either at any time in the iOS Settings app or in the app's My Location tab, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.
• Legitimate interests — for operating and securing the service, including filtering submitted reports to keep the hazard feed useful and free from abuse.
• Legal obligation and vital interests — for the safety, regulatory, and legal disclosures described above.

How Long We Keep It

We keep each item only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected:

• Location — only your most recent location is held. Each new location replaces the previous one, so nothing accumulates.
• Device token and notification settings — held while the app is installed on your device, and discarded when Apple reports that the app has been removed.
• Hazard reports — retained as part of the hazard record so the community can see recent and historical hazard activity. Reports are not linked to you.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal information, to receive a copy of it in a portable form, and to withdraw consent you have given.

Because the app requires no account, the practical way to exercise most of these rights is directly on your device: turn off location access or enter a location by hand to stop location collection, turn off notifications to stop the token being used, and delete the app to have the stored token discarded. If you would like us to act on a request ourselves, contact us through the contact page and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. Note that because we hold no name, email address, or account for you, we may be unable to locate information relating to you without additional detail from you, and in some cases we may be unable to identify your data at all.

EEA, UK, and Switzerland. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority or data protection authority.

California. Under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, you have the right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. ITDT LLC does not sell or share personal information, and does not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your rights.

Other regions. If your local law grants you comparable rights — for example under Canada's PIPEDA, Brazil's LGPD, or Australia's Privacy Act — we honor them on the same basis.

Children's Privacy

Hazard Notifier is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data Security

Information travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections, and is held on servers we control with access limited to what is needed to operate the service. Because no name, email address, account, or password is collected, a device token and a single current location are the only device-related items we hold, which limits the impact of any incident. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we believe these measures are appropriate to the very limited information involved.

Apple and the App Store

Hazard Notifier is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple may collect certain information when you download or use apps, including device information and download history, in accordance with Apple's Privacy Policy. That information is collected by Apple and is not shared with ITDT LLC. Apple's notification service also handles the delivery of notifications to your device as described above.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. You should review this policy when a new version of the app is installed, or check this page for updates.
